Well, well, well. Here we are fast approaching the end of April and I’m yet to get my next mix up. It’s not through a lack of trying either. I’ve recorded the mix several times, but I’ve been unhappy with how it’s gone. The first attempts the mixing just wasn’t right – some old tunes that I’d not mixed in a while, and my lack of practice, meant the breaks just weren’t hitting the sweet spot. With that rectified, it turns out I hadn’t picked a great set of tunes to mix. Individually, and in small sets, they are great. For a full flowing 80 minute set, not so great.
What can I say, shit happens. So I reorganised the tunes I want to mix, then jetted off to Orlando with the family for a break. It seems to have done the trick as I’m a little more relaxed than I’ve been in a while. So we’ll see how it all goes over the next couple of weeks.
On a plus note, I’ve had a load of tunes in via discogs (yay) and I’ve picked out the next records for the 3rd installment of the Pure Vinyl series. So I’ve not wasted all of my time.
