Almost a third of the way through 2013 and up until now, no new mixes from yours truly. Sorry about that; I have been trying (very!) but when it comes to recording a mix, I’m still shit & get what can only be described as “stage fright” when that little record button is lit.
If I’m honest, I am my own worst enemy when it comes to recording a mix. If it’s going well, my mind starts to wander, I go off in my little world wondering what I’ll call the mix, what should I use as art work for the covers/MP3 album art, who should I give first listen to. Basically a load of toss – because while all that’s going off in my head, the mix will have usually descended into “gallop central” and I’ll have to bin it.
What’s a DJ supposed to do?
Well, basically, relax; focus on the music, the mix, the transition, the levels, all the good stuff that makes DJ’ing fun and enjoyable. And that’s not just some cliche bullshit, that’s what I’ve done (along with grabbing hold of some tunes that I haven’t played in a while) and I’ve put together what happens to be my first mix of 2013. How about that!
It’s not my usual trance laden affair either (although you will find some trance undertones thrown in), it’s deep, it’s got a strong house groove and it’s probably ticking the progressive box in more than a few places as well. So if that sounds like it’s up your street, give it a go. I will mention the slack mixing between tracks 6 & 7, I was mid mix, and the fucking postman was banging the hell out of my front door. So left with either killing the mix, or letting it slide a little, I opted for the latter.
