Life In Slow Motion

Before you read the rest of this post, I think I need to make some things clear about zeropitch.com; This is my blog and I’ll write what I want to. Clear? Brilliant. Read on if you want. Jog on if you don’t 😛

A couple of months ago I posted about not getting enough decks time, woe is me, yadda yadda yadda, same old, same old. So what does this update bring I hear you ask? Well, yes, we have some more of the same; I haven’t been getting enough time on the decks. But I have spent a tonne of time on the decks!

Confused yet? You should be. In the two months since I last posted, a lot has changed for me; some good, some bad and some indifferent. It’s been an interesting time to say the least, so I have returned to the decks at every available opportunity, old tunes, new tunes, forgotten tunes. Vinyl and CD. It hasn’t mattered, just as long as I’ve been playing. And through the magic of the internet (specifically trackitdown.net) I’ve also been purchasing new tunes at an alarming rate.

Unfortunately, these “interesting times” have caused me to reach for the bottle, on more than one occasion. Not the most sensible of decisions as it’s been both a help and a hindrance with the mild insomnia I’ve been experiencing. When it’s helped, it’s been great, when it hasn’t I’ve seen the wrong side of 3am far too frequently. At this time of the morning even the little things seem to take longer to do; everything slows down and solitude becomes more poignant. It can be quite depressing, but bollocks to wallowing in self pity. My latest battle with my demons took on a different direction. I squared up to them, looked them in the eyes (closed the fridge door) told them quite politely to fuck off and I headed to the sanctuary of the headphones, where I proceeded to mix and record 13 new tunes accompanied by a very large grin (not gin!).

So it’s not onwards & upwards, chin up and a whole host of other “motivational” clap trap that people use when they’re trying to be “helpful”. It’s actually a big screw you world; I’m coming to take what’s mine whether you like it or not. My demons are my own, and I’ll be pummelling them into submission with heavy hitting tunes such as those on Demons (3am Eternal). Rock on (Tommy!)

Download Demons (3am Eternal)

I’ve still got a problem with the recording & I still haven’t sussed it out. There’s a tiny jump every so often, like a little skip of a millisecond (like the laptop was having a ‘moment’ putting down the file to the hard drive). So I’m open to suggestions on what to try next, before I go back to using mini disc (blurrrgh).
