genre [noun<\/em>] – a style<\/strong>, especially in the arts<\/strong>, that involves a particular set of characteristics<\/strong>
e.g. what genre does this mix fall into?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, according to Beatport et al, the tracks listed below are either melodic techno, or progressive house. For me, I think they’re progressive trance – but what do I know? Well, I know I went in search of tracks that reminded me of the progressive trance sound from around the turn of the century. I wanted tracks that reminded me of music releases on the likes of Bedrock, Hooj, Fluid, Sumsonic, INCTraxx to name but a few. I wanted percussive, driving, hypnotic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other than having to spend an absolute age (not a bad way to spend time online really) crossing through arbitrary genres, I think I got it too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
